Stress incontinence typically affects women and is a result of an inability of the urethra to close tightly and/or a decrease in pelvic muscle tone. Sudden stress on the bladder may cause leakage. Typical stresses are coughing, laughing, and exercising.
Urge incontinence is when a person feels an uncontrollable and intense urge to urinate. Some medications, caffeine, bladder infections, alcohol, pregnancy and an enlarged prostate are common causes. Medium Incontinence
Overflow incontinence happens when the bladder overfills its capacity, resulting in leakage. Heavy Incontinence
Reflex incontinence occurs when voluntary control is lost. The person no longer has the sensation that the bladder is full or that he or she needs to urinate.
