This group, which began in 1930, promotes efforts to improve health care for children and young adults in the US as well as children’s mental, physical and social health. It now has many thousands of members, and they help disabled and healthy children in areas such as nutrition and financing health treatments. The AAP as it is called, publishes two journals and has a newspaper. They emphasize preventative medicine and they are involved in the government’s role of child and young adult health care.
The American Academy of Pediatrics promotes the importance of vaccines and regular pediatric health checks. They also advocate the importance of car seats and caution against obesity and stress in children as well as internet safety. They can help a parent find a pediatrician in their area. Many topics and diseases they associate with include ADHD, Autism and Breastfeeding.
