The Adult Incontinence pull ups are a great diaper for adults, a transition from the use of pads in your normal underwear. They are the next step when you have reached the maximum capacity that a pad allows. The modern day pull ups have come a long way to being as much like normal underwear as possible. There are no tabs to fuss with, simply pull on and you are ready to go. The one downfall is: just like your normal underwear, you need to completely undress from the waist down to put a new product on. For some that is no problem, they just like the idea that they have a product almost like normal underwear. They are available for moderate to heavy coverage.
The briefs with tabs are also a good transition from the pads. These briefs with tabs give you the ability to adjust where needed. If you have small thighs, the leg opening tabs can snug the opening up so you don’t have leakage. Some have braces they need to work around, which you can do with the tabs. Some do not care for them as they are so much like a diaper. But if you can go somewhere without worrying about an “accident”, most wear them. Overnight Incontinence products are available in both styles – the pull ups or the brief with tabs. These products are designed to hold the maximum (we call it overnight) capacity. When you sleep, your muscles relax. For some, they do not wake up when the urge to urinate is felt. There are many different reasons from medications to physical limitations. No matter what the reason, the end result is a wet mattress, bedding and patient. These overnight products are designed to hold a high capacity of fluids for a longer period of time.
The Adult Cloth diapers are reusable adult diapers designed to replace the disposables in your life. These products will save you money in the long term. They are made of soft, sturdy material that is washable and dryer friendly. There are a wide variety of coverages available from light to moderate to overnight (maximum).
The Women’s Incontinence panties are a great idea. These products look like normal underwear but either have a pocket to insert a pad or have the pads sewn directly into them. The Plus Size or Bariatric adult diapers are incontinence supplies designed for those with a waist size at or above 60 inches. People with weight problems often experience incontinence due to the additional weight they are carrying. And sometimes it is difficult to make it to the restroom in time. These products are available in both the pull up style and the brief with tabs style. Some of the products will go up to 106-inch waist.
Miss swimming in the pool or have therapy sessions scheduled in the water and have fecal incontinence. The swim diapers are designed to contain fecal matter and a small amount of urine to allow you to go back into the water. The Youth sizes have a smaller leg opening and a shorter rise. Take all your measurements carefully and check the charts to obtain the proper size.
Fecal incontinence requires a different product or at least a product designed for both urinary and fecal incontinence. A product that is made for urinary incontinence probably will not work well for fecal incontinence. Fecal incontinence products are designed a little different with more absorbency placed in the right areas. You also want a product that has gathering in the leg area for containment. Check out our fecal incontinence supply section.
The belted undergarments are interesting - a little more pad for absorbency but no covering at the sides of the hips. These would be great in the warmer, more humid areas as they would allow your skin to breathe. Most of the pads have the centers gathered for better containment. They also will fit those with a larger waist size.
Some people add the covers just as an added extra precaution. These covers help contain any leakage.
When trying new products, order the smallest quantity available. You will not end up with a lot of product that you cannot or will not use. Also, ask questions. Ask as many questions as you need until you feel you are finding the correct product for your needs. Please take your measurements carefully. You will need your waist measurement at the belly button and your hips at the widest point. This is generally the only measurements you will need. Do not assume your wear a medium in all products. Each brand has their own sizing standards they use. What is a medium in one is not necessarily a medium in another.
