Abdominal muscle

noun

Muscles located in the abdomen.

The abdominal muscles are some of the most important muscles to maintain for health and posture. The stronger the muscles are maintained the better support a person has for their back. These muscles are the center of the body in support. They support the back when lifting, moving, and sitting along with keeping the organs in proper alignment. These muscles also support the breathing movement of the lungs. They support the lungs movement to exhale and inhale air.

Adequate exercise to maintain strength and flexibility of these muscles is important for the health of a person. Key abdominal exercises strengthen these muscles along with aerobic exercise to feed the muscles adequate fuel. Poor muscle strength can lead to back aches, slumping, and poochy abdomen. These issues can lead to life-long problems. The best way to stay healthy is to prevent problems rather than trying to fix the problem after it is damaged.

Prevention is the key to good health.
